Carbon Steel Threaded Flanges are similar in appearance to the slip-on flange but it has a threaded bore, which helps to install the equipment without the need for welding. A male thread is cut into the bore of the flange, while a female thread is cut onto the pipe end. Following that, the male threaded pipe is screwed into the female threaded flange. This helps to make an air-tight seal to reduce leakage. As welding isn’t required, it can be applicable in pipe systems that have low pressure. Carbon Steel Threaded Flanges have a usage in types of equipment used in dangerous, inflammable, explosive environments, or any situation where welding is not recommended. It isn’t useful where configurations are changing frequently, such as in pilot processes.
Carbon Steel Threaded Flanges have threaded seal, to screw the parts of flange and pipe. Hence, welding isn’t required, helping the customer to save time and resources during the installation period. Carbon Steel A105 Threaded Flanges are not suitable to use in an environment with high temperature, cyclic circumstances, or bending forces. If the walls of the pipes are thin, this can be troubling for the flange, rendering it unusable with the pipe. This is because creating a thread on a thin walled pipe is challenging. Lastly, a seal weld can be made to increase the strength of the joint and reduce leaking.
