Threaded/Companion Flanges are produced, supplied, and kept in stock by Trimac Piping Solutions and are used as pipe flanges for a variety of industrial applications. They are a type of pipe flange that can be attached to the pipe without using solder. Internal threads on threaded flanges are the same as external threads on the pipe. Despite being available in a range of diameters and pressure ratings, the threaded flange configuration is most frequently used for piping systems with a diameter of fewer than 4 inches. Typically, it only has non-toxic, low-pressure, and low-temperature systems as applications. The 1/2 to a 2-inch range of threaded flanges is much more common than the range above 2-inch. Because less pressure is used, threaded flanges only have flat and elevated faces. They are not suited for use in high-temperature operations because the thread shape would distort, resulting in leakage.
Steel is stainless The benefit of threaded flanges is that they can be attached to a pipe without the need for soldering. It is crucial in specific areas and industries, such as hazardous zones like gas stations, hexane facilities, and stores with flammable fluids, among others, to form joints without the need to weld. If no soldering is required, a potential ignition source is eliminated. Another benefit is that compared to welded flange joints, threaded flange joints are quicker and simpler to assemble and disassemble. Since cutting a thread on thin-walled pipes can be challenging, ANSI B16.5 TThreaded/Companion Flanges are not advised for use with such pipes. In some circumstances, a seal weld may be used to increase the flange’s durability and lessen the likelihood of a leak. Although the addition of a seal weld makes the flange stronger, it also makes the joint more difficult to install and disassemble (because the weld makes it a permanent joint).
