The stern tube and the AFT seal housing are separated by spacer rings. Spade Ring Spacers Flanges are another name for spacer ring flanges. These are available in filler flanges and ring spacers and are utilized in the installation of pipe systems. It is normally made of a single piece of metal that is cut to fit the pipe size, and it is attached between the two pipe flanges with an extra gasket. At the flange joint, metal is thicker at the tapered neck, which gradually narrows down to converge with the pipe, at the point where it is butt welded to the pipe. The internal weld must be smooth to reduce friction, while the exterior weld must meet code standards.
