Pressure “Tappings” are machined onto the orifice flange, usually on two sides, precisely opposite one other. This eliminates the need for different orifice carriers or tube wall tappings. Raised Faces or RTJ (Ring Type Joint) facings are common on orifice flanges. For all intents and purposes, they are identical to weld neck and slip-on flanges with additional milling. This screw jack is used to separate the flanges so that the orifice plate and seals can be inspected or replaced. Standards should be followed when connecting orifice flanges. The manufacturer’s assembly guidelines for integrated flow measuring instruments should be met. Pressure tapping criteria shall apply to line tapping connections.
